What Does IP65, IP67 and IP68 Mean for LED Strips?
IP (Ingress Protection) is the international rating that tells you how well a strip is sealed against solids and water. The first digit covers dust, the second covers water - so IP67 means totally dust-tight and protected against temporary immersion. Choosing the right level matters: over-specifying wastes budget, under-specifying kills the strip in months.

Rule of thumb: sheltered splash zones = IP54, rain and jets = IP65, standing or occasional water = IP67, permanent underwater = IP68. Per IEC 60529, IP67/IP68 are immersion tests - they do not automatically include the IP65 jet test.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which IP rating do I need for outdoor use?
For direct rain exposure (facades, gardens, eaves) IP65 is the industry standard. Step up to IP67 where water can stand or soak in - ground recessed profiles, decks, and areas cleaned with hoses. Use IP68 only for permanent underwater installations such as pools and ponds. Note that per IEC 60529, IP67/IP68 are immersion tests and do not automatically guarantee the IP65 jet-spray test, so the right choice depends on how water hits the strip. Tell us the installation scene and we will recommend the correct level.
Can waterproof LED strip be submerged in a pool?
Only versions specifically built and sealed for continuous immersion (IP68) should be used underwater. Our silicone-extruded strip and neon flex lines can be configured for IP68 pool projects - ask for the IP68 datasheet before ordering.
Does waterproofing affect cutting and connectors?
Yes - after cutting an IP65/IP67 strip the open end must be re-sealed with an end cap and glue, and joints need waterproof connectors. We supply matching sealed connectors and can pre-attach them at the factory to your required lengths.
What is the minimum order quantity?
