What Is a COB LED Strip?
COB (chip-on-board) technology mounts hundreds of tiny LED chips directly onto a single flexible PCB and covers them with one continuous phosphor coating. Because the emitting surface is continuous instead of separated dots, a COB LED strip produces seamless linear light with no hotspots, even without a diffuser in a shallow aluminium profile.
SMD strips use discrete LED packages spaced every few millimetres, which is why you see individual bright dots reflected in glossy surfaces. COB strips eliminate that problem, making them the first choice for coves, under-cabinet lighting, wardrobe interiors, mirror edges and retail display shelves.
